Ryan Giggs as next Swansea boss

According to the Daily Telegraph, Swansea are set to sack boss Francesco Guidolin and replace him with former-Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs.
The move comes after the Swans suffered a 2-1 home defeat against Liverpool.
In truth, the Welsh side produced a spirited display against an in-form Liverpool team. Guidolin’s exit would not be based on that defeat, but the Swans terrible run of form in the top-flight.
The Welsh side have suffered defeat in five of their last six Premier League. It looks like the experienced Guidolin will pay the price for that poor form by being sacked in the next week.

Giggs is the favourite for the job
Former-Wales international Giggs is now hot favourite to be the next Swans boss at odds of 1/ 4. The likes of Chris Coleman, Steve Bruce and Bob Bradley have all been mooted as potential successors to Guidolin.

However, it seems that Giggs is now highly likely to be the next man in the hot seat at the Liberty Stadium. The Telegraph claims that the Swans US owners met Giggs in London on Thursday.
It would be a brave appointment by the Welsh club, but it could well be a good move by the Swans hierarchy.
Chairman Huw Jenkins has a history of making decent decisions when it comes to hiring and firing bosses. He may not be the owner anymore, but he still has a big role at the club and is an admirer of Giggs.

Looking for a managerial role
Ryan Giggs left Manchester United in the summer having spent the best parts of three decades at the club. His exit was reportedly motivated by the fact that Giggs was hoping to nab himself a managerial job elsewhere.

There were even unconfirmed reports that the 42-year-old was frustrated by the fact that he had not been offered the United manager’s job.
Prior to his exit, the former-Welsh international worked as Louis van Gaal’s assistant for two years. It now seems like he is ready to embark on a managerial career in his own right.
Giggs was always highly professional during his playing career. He comes across as a guy who talks a good game too. He is a strong enough personality to take on the role of boss.

The only question marks would be about his lack of experience as a boss. His only experience came in a four-game spell as interim boss at United. A record of won two drew one and lost one was not bad considering the atmosphere surrounding the team at the time.
Swansea have never been scared to take chances on bosses. The fact, that the Swans appointed Garry Monk despite him having no top-flight experience suggests they are willing to appoint somebody if they believe he can do the job.

Monk’s appointment was a success in the short-term. However, the rookie’s lack of experience showed in the longer term and he was sacked. His replacement Guidolin has been at the club for just nine months.

A big task in south Wales
The task in south Wales is a big one. However, Swansea may just be the perfect club for Giggs to cut his managerial teeth. The Swans does have some decent players, but a poor summer in the transfer market has left the team short of any real quality.

The new Swansea boss’ ideas would have to fit with those of the club. He would also have to be somebody with good management skills and make the team more than a sum of its parts. That sounds like a silly thing to say when talking about a manager. However, not all bosses have the ability to do that.
Some bosses rely on the transfer market for success, rather being able to inspire players or a team. Giggs will have to have to use all the experience he has acquired in the game to be a success if he is appointed as Swansea boss.

Only time will tell if Ryan Giggs is given the opportunity of managing Swansea in his first permanent managerial role. However, if he is then no doubt it will be an interesting appointment.
The decision could go either way in reality. If it goes wrong, then it could cost the Welsh side dearly.

However, Giggs has accrued a lot of experienced having worked under some very high profile bosses, so
I am sure he would do a decent enough job.
